About Arklow Business Enterprise Centre PDF Print E-mail

Arklow Business Enterprise Centre was officially opened by Deputy Dick Roche, Minister of Environment, Local Government and Heritage, on April 16th, 2005. The opening of the centre was the culmination of a lot of hard work, a fusion of various agencies and local bodies working together to achieve a goal.

The role of A.B.E.C. is to provide reasonably priced workspace to small and expanding businesses on a 'not for loss' basis. To provide a range of businesses and enterprises related support services to tenants and local entrepreneurs and business people thinking of starting or developing enterprises.

A.B.E.C. directors comprise representatives of local business and community interests namely:

  • Sheelagh Daly - Wicklow County Enterprise Board
  • Breda Bermingham Roberts - Wicklow County Enterprise Board
  • Michael Allen - Allen and Smyth Construction
  • Leonard Murphy - Bank of Ireland
  • Des Nichols Town Clerk - Arklow Town Council
  • Peter Dempsey - Mayor - Arklow Town Council
  • Edward Sheehy - County Manager - Wicklow County Council

The centre has 23,000 sq feet of both industrial units and office units, with 28 units available. A state of the art training facility is in place with several meeting rooms also. Courses are planned on an ongoing basis.
